Dima Nachawi

Dima Nachawi is a Syrian visual storyteller, performer, and clown based in Beirut, Lebanon.

Dima is inspired by universal tales of resistance, compassion, and justice, trying to portray the dream of many and her own of a world that preserves equal rights and opportunities. Women’s stories and their heroism influence her art throughout their struggles against patriarchy and male dominance.

Dima believes that the cause of prisoners of consciousness is a priority reflected in many projects she produced.

Her exploration of shadow art was invested in mobile shadow puppets and a storytelling performance produced and toured in Lebanon in 2021. Currently, she resumes this journey through the preparation and creation of a visual and sound installation project.

In 2018, she was listed among the “BBC 100 Women'', a list that highlights some of the most inspiring and influential women from around the world. Her artworks were featured in Beirut, Brussels, Paris, and London exhibitions.

Dima holds a Masters in Art and Cultural Management from King’s College - London University and a B.A in Sociology from Damascus University.
