About Myçal el Khouri
Myçal El Khouri, alias "Mek", is a hematologist physician who was born in Beirut in 1955 and has been a fan of drawing and painting since early childhood.
Myçal's studies in Biology and Medicine in Toulouse, France, got her to take an artistic break until her daughters were born. This allowed her to return to her pencils and brushes.
In her painting, Western and Eastern influences interpenetrate and respond to each other with forms and colors, giving rise freely to geometrical abstract or figurative compositions. These compositions are based on lines that intertwine and intersect continuously letting the imagination wander in a very singular world.
