According to the Embodied Realities exhibition's curator Dr. Pamela Chrabieh, "Tala Beydoun’s untitled piece embodies the delicate tension between presence and absence, individuality and unity. Two ethereal figures stand side by side, their faceless forms dissolving into the textured depths of a celestial expanse. Their silhouettes are stitched with intricate embroidery, an evocative symbol of interwoven identities—threads of memory, experience, and connection binding them to each other and the space around them.
This work resonates deeply with the Embodied Realities exhibition, where the human form is explored as a vessel of emotion, transformation, and shared existence. The figures seem to hover between realms, their stitched edges reinforcing the fragile yet undeniable bonds that define human relationships. In a world where bodies carry the weight of history and intimacy, this piece invites reflection: Are we ever truly separate, or are we eternally stitched into the fabric of one another’s being?"

About Tala Beydoun

Tala Beydoun is a multidisciplinary artist, engaged in various mediums including painting, collage, and notably, embroidery. Having dedicated three decades to teaching, she embarked on a transformative journey, transitioning into an artist, particularly focusing on multidisciplinary work. This significant shift occurred after she enrolled in an embroidery class at Espacefann, supplementing her education with courses in weaving and branding.
Tala's creative process is fueled by human emotions. She intertwines hand embroidery with machine stitching, utilizing fabrics, yarns, threads, treated papers, hardware, acrylic paint, china ink, and other mediums. This amalgamation results in her unique, upcycled wearable art pieces, which encompass pendants, earrings, necklaces, and paintings.
