Beirut is known to be rich with heritage buildings representing the architectural glamour of the Ottoman and French-mandate eras. This artwork is made as a tribute to the beautiful buildings that we lost during the massive explosion that hit our beloved Beirut on August 4, 2020.
Production year: 2020.
"My photography and illustration are deeply intertwined with the themes of war, city, and resilience, drawing from my experiences in Beirut. Through my art, I capture the essence of urban life, contrasting the scars of conflict with the vibrancy of daily existence.
War, in my work, is a powerful force that shapes the urban landscape. I shoot how it transforms architecture and leaves indelible marks on cities, yet there is always a thread of hope within these depictions of destruction.
In essence, my art is a tribute to the unbroken spirit of urban life. It explores and highlights the beauty of our city through beautiful architecture highlighting the resilience and lifestyle of our neighborhoods despite the challenges, the resilience of people, and heritage shines through.
Through my work, I hope to inspire others to see the beauty in resilience and appreciate the enduring human capacity to rebuild and flourish".
