This Way, Though the Blue

I am Helen Serhan: photographer, traveller, and storyteller.

I have always been fascinated with light and colour. Their collective effects on the human psyche—particularly on mood and mental wellbeing—have been a constant source of inspiration for me. My passion for photography began in childhood, watching my father juggle his ever-present black-and-white and colour film cameras, in addition to his movie camera, wherever we went.

I was born in the Congo to Lebanese expatriate parents and spent my childhood in Africa, where the light is like no other. I have also lived in numerous countries around the globe, working in insurance and risk management and as a translator, while also being a dedicated mum. All that travelling has shaped my artistic vision and paved the way for a life spent chasing light and colour.

Through my photography, I offer a window onto the world in all its vibrant, vivid, and seductive—yet simple—beauty.
