This artwork is part of a new collection by Rabih Yehya - MZIJ entitled "Contemporary Rebirth" that includes mixed media paintings with augmented reality. The collection explores the duality of classic versus modernity and culture versus technology. Four iconic masterpieces, drawn by the Master Painters of their era, are brought to life with Arabic calligraphy: Vincent van Gogh - The Starry Night; Pablo Picasso - Dora Maar; Salvador Dali - The Persistence of Memory; and Gustav Klimt - The Kiss. The result is four classic paintings redrawn with modern Arabic calligraphy and beautified with augmented reality in the form of animated video and Instagram filter.

"Adding a new dimension to an iconic masterpiece with Arabic calligraphy is the essence of this collection and what makes it truly special." ~ Rabih Yehya.

According to Dr. Pamela Chrabieh, curator of the Embodied Realities Exhibition, the human body is a living canvas where culture, memory, identity, and technology intersect and unfold. In this context, "The Starry Night Bil Khat Al Arabi" by Rabih Yeha aka MZIJ becomes a powerful visual metaphor for this embodiment. By weaving Vincent van Gogh's iconic masterpiece with fluid, modern Arabic calligraphy, the artwork mirrors the exhibition’s central theme: the body as a space where tradition meets innovation, where the past is reinterpreted through contemporary lenses.

The Arabic calligraphy overlaps the painting and moves like a living form- dancing, flowing, and breathing - bringing a new corporeal dimension to van Gogh’s celestial scene. Coupled with augmented reality features, the artwork transcends the static, engaging viewers in a multisensory experience that reflects the ever-evolving nature of cultural and personal identity. It invites us to see the body, much like the canvas, as a site of hybridity, where histories, languages, and technologies converge and are reimagined.

Through this unique fusion, "The Starry Night Bil Khat Al Arabi" aligns seamlessly with the exhibition’s exploration of how bodies, physical and metaphorical, embody layered realities shaped by heritage and innovation.
