According to the Embodied Realities Exhibition's curator Dr. Pamela Chrabieh: "With a striking contrast of blue skin against a bold red backdrop, "The Red Zone" embodies the charged tension between defiance and exposure. The body here is a statement—a canvas of transformation, where identity is both concealed and amplified. The rigid posture, the sharp gaze, the vivid lips—each element speaks of assertion, yet within the vibrancy lies a question of boundaries. Where does the body find safety, and when does it become a target? In this work, Daou explores the way bodies navigate spaces of power, visibility, and self-preservation, challenging the viewer to consider the politics of presence in a world that often demands conformity.".

Production year: 2024.

About Hazar Daou

Born in 1988 in Beirut, Hazar is a self-taught artist, a 37-year-old mother of two, with a background in early childhood education and a master’s degree in educational management. Though her academic path led her in a different direction, she only recently discovered her deep passion for painting.

Working with acrylics, she specializes in photorealism, drawing inspiration from real people and animals. She finds profound meaning in capturing life’s intricate details, revealing beauty in the smallest nuances that others might overlook. Her work is driven by a desire to forge an emotional connection with viewers, inviting them to see the world through her eyes.

As she prepares for her first exhibition, she feels both excited and humbled by the journey that has brought her here. Painting has become her voice—an outlet for self-expression and a way to share her unique perspective. With every brushstroke, she embraces the endless possibilities of growth and discovery as an artist.
