ReCollected Concentric Bamboo Bowl

Part of ReCollected, Kulturnest's private collection of pre-owned, never-worn, and vintage pieces, this unused Taiwanese bowl has a wide, shallow profile supported by a small circular foot. Thin bamboo strips appear to have been spun or laminated in continuous layers, creating the concentric rings visible across the surface. A light protective finish preserves the warm natural colour while allowing the layered construction to remain visible.

What makes the bowl stand out is that its structure is also its decoration: the rings record the gradual building of the form from the centre outward, while the low pedestal gives the piece a light, elevated appearance. Bamboo craft has a significant place in Taiwan’s material and design history, with contemporary Taiwanese institutions continuing to preserve and develop the tradition.

There is no carved or painted symbol on the piece. The material itself carries a broader cultural association: in Chinese visual tradition, bamboo is frequently connected with resilience and moral integrity because it bends without easily breaking. 

Suitable as a fruit bowl, dry-food server or decorative centrepiece. Avoid soaking or dishwashing.

ReCollected is Kulturnest’s private collection of pieces gathered gradually over the years and kept in storage until now.
