In times of uncertainty, our most primal instinct is to orient ourselves toward hope. Follow the Light draws a parallel between the biological tropism of plants—which instinctively turn toward the sun to survive—and our human necessity to find brightness amidst social and economic shadows.
For the 'Havens' exhibition, this work interprets the concept of shelter not as a static place, but as a direction. Just as our eyes evolved to catch light, this painting suggests that our survival depends on our ability to locate the 'small glimmer'—be it a light through a window or a moment of clarity. This piece is a tribute to that persistence, framing the act of seeking joy not as a luxury but as an essential mechanism of endurance and growth.

About Crystel Samia

Crystel Samia is a multidisciplinary visual artist based in Beirut, working across illustration, painting, animation, and hand-painted objects. Her practice is rooted in intuition, symbolism, and slow, intentional making, drawing inspiration from inner landscapes, nature, and the unseen realms that exist between emotion and imagination. She holds a Master’s degree in Graphic Design and Visual Communication from the Lebanese University, Institute of Fine Arts, with a focus on animation and illustration, and has a deep attachment to traditional frame-by-frame animation for its expressive and organic qualities. Alongside her personal practice, Crystel works as a freelance animator and visual artist, collaborating with clients on music videos, campaigns, and independent projects, while
maintaining a distinctive visual language. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including group exhibitions in Istanbul such as Dynamics of the Self (2022) and Growing Roots (2022), where themes of growth, interconnectedness, and vulnerability were central to her artistic exploration. In parallel, she regularly showcases and sells her artworks through exhibitions, concept shops, and her online
platform, offering limited edition art prints, one-of-a-kind original paintings, and hand-painted
items.
Crystel also leads creative workshops and teaches at the university level, sharing her knowledge in animation, illustration, and visual storytelling. Teaching is an extension of her practice, grounded in experimentation, curiosity, and encouraging students to develop an authentic visual voice. Through collections like Spiral Glow, as well as her paintings and animated works, Crystel seeks to create pieces that feel intimate and alive, carrying time, care, and intention. Her work invites viewers into a space of wonder and openness, offering quiet moments of connection to beauty, mystery, and the inner self.
