According to the Embodied Realities Exhibition's curator Dr. Pamela Chrabieh: "A moment suspended between survival and surrender, Breathe captures the fragile relationship between the body and its environment. The subject, half-submerged, is caught in the delicate act of inhalation—an intimate yet universal experience. The water clings to her skin, blurring the boundaries between body and nature, between control and vulnerability. In this piece, breath becomes a symbol of resilience, a reminder of the body's instinct to persist even in moments of uncertainty. The artwork invites us to reflect on how our bodies adapt, endure, and seek equilibrium in shifting landscapes".

Production year: 2023.

About Hazar Daou

Born in 1988 in Beirut, Hazar is a self-taught artist, a 37-year-old mother of two, with a background in early childhood education and a master’s degree in educational management. Though her academic path led her in a different direction, she only recently discovered her deep passion for painting.

Working with acrylics, she specializes in photorealism, drawing inspiration from real people and animals. She finds profound meaning in capturing life’s intricate details, revealing beauty in the smallest nuances that others might overlook. Her work is driven by a desire to forge an emotional connection with viewers, inviting them to see the world through her eyes.

As she prepares for her first exhibition, she feels both excited and humbled by the journey that has brought her here. Painting has become her voice—an outlet for self-expression and a way to share her unique perspective. With every brushstroke, she embraces the endless possibilities of growth and discovery as an artist.
