"Angst" symbolizes womanhood and its complexities. It is also a celebration of life, a tribute to the beauty and complexity of the female experience.
About May Hamdan
May Hamdan is a self-taught painter who has been developing her art for many years. She held her first exhibition in 2007 and has participated in collective shows since then. She has showcased her work at Zico House and Galerie Plus-ou-moins dix in Beirut. Her recent show was “25 Springs” at LAU.
Her work includes mixed media paintings of mostly acrylics and pastels. She enjoys building layers on her canvas, in a game of hide and seek of moods and appearances. There is always a story being told.
She is also a rising writer.
May lives in Beirut, where she has been teaching as a professor of Mathematics at the Lebanese American University for nearly thirty years. She has published scholarly works in Pure Mathematics as well as in Mathematics Education.
She is married to Khalil Makari and is the mother of Luma and Marwan.
