Thresholds: A Collective Art Exhibition at Kulturnest

Kulturnest is pleased to announce the opening of Thresholds, a collective art exhibition launching on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 6 to 9 PM, and bringing together 15 artists around the spaces, moments, and emotional states that exist between what has ended and what has not yet begun.
Curated by Kulturnest co-founder and CEO Dr. Pamela Chrabieh, the exhibition will take place at Kulturnest in Sin-el-Fil, Lebanon, with a dedicated online catalogue available through the Kulturnest Gallery. Visitors can discover selected artworks, artist profiles, descriptions and stories behind the works, as well as available pieces for acquisition online.
Standing at the Threshold
A threshold is more than a doorway. It can be a border, a wound, a pause, a departure, a return, a limit, a passage, a beginning, or a point of no return.
In Lebanon, the region, and beyond, many of us continue to inhabit these unstable in-between spaces: between staying and leaving, grief and reconstruction, memory and transformation, attachment and release, exhaustion and movement.
The selected artists explore these crossings without prescribing what must be found on the other side. Some thresholds are crossed willingly; others are imposed. Some open toward possibility, while others carry uncertainty, rupture, fear, or loss.
The exhibition asks what we carry with us when we cross, what we leave behind, what prevents us from moving forward, and what new forms of care, resistance, imagination, belonging, and transformation can emerge at the edge.
Art in the In-Between
The selected works approach the theme through personal, collective, physical, emotional, symbolic, and imagined thresholds.
Doors, bodies, landscapes, memories, homes, borders, objects, departures, absences, gestures, and inner worlds become points of passage through which the artists examine what it means to exist between one state and another.
Rather than offering a single interpretation, Thresholds brings together different artistic languages and sensibilities, allowing uncertainty itself to become a space for reflection, encounter, and creation.

Elise Salameh, Faten Hamdan, Joseph El Arid, Katia Aoun Hage, Layan Hariri, Lily Naim, Michel Raad, Nada Raphael, Nadine Tabri, Nathalie Bannout, Olga Safa, Rania Issam Hamady, Rima Ghanem, Rouwaida Mallo, and Zahraa Al Baba.
Through their distinct practices, the 15 participating artists approach the notion of the threshold from different perspectives and experiences, creating a conversation between the intimate and the collective, the visible and the invisible, rupture and continuity, memory and possibility.
Artistic Media
The exhibition brings together a broad range of techniques and forms, including photography, oil and acrylic on canvas, collage and mixed media, sculpture, aquarelle, poetry, and other artistic approaches.
This diversity of media reflects the openness of the theme itself, allowing each artist to give material, visual, textual, or spatial form to their own understanding of crossing, waiting, transition, uncertainty, and transformation.
