Seasonal Rooms Return: A Second Edition at Kulturnest
This fall, Kulturnest launches the second edition of Seasonal Rooms, opening on Saturday, September 26, alongside our EcoArt Market, and continuing until the end of the year.
Every Wednesday and Friday, from 11 AM to 6 PM, our four indoor rooms will bring together artworks, design pieces, upcycled creations, limited editions, one-of-a-kind works, selected discounted items, and our new ReCollected Collection.
The idea of Seasonal Rooms II remains simple: to create a setting where different forms of making can coexist naturally, without separating art from design, established names from newer voices, or collectible pieces from more accessible ones.
This edition, however, arrives in a very different atmosphere. Lebanon remains at war. The cultural sector is strained, audiences are cautious, artists are working under difficult conditions, and independent spaces are constantly being asked to do more with less. That reality cannot be placed outside the door. Nor do we want to turn it into a slogan. Seasonal Rooms II is not an attempt to manufacture normality. It is a way of holding on to what still matters: encounter, exchange, curiosity, resourcefulness, and the possibility of keeping cultural life present even when circumstances are hostile to it.
This is also why the principles behind the circular economy feel particularly relevant to us now. Not everything needs to begin from zero. Materials can be transformed rather than discarded. A well-made piece can move from one owner to another. Existing objects can return to view. An artwork does not have to be monumental or expensive to deserve a place in someone’s home.
Our new ReCollected Collection grows from this thinking, bringing together pre-owned, never-worn/used and carefully selected pieces that are ready to be appreciated differently.
Alongside them, visitors will encounter works by several Kulturnest creatives: artists and designers at different stages of their practice, working across varied mediums and approaches. Some pieces are unique. Others belong to small editions. Some have been created from reused materials. Others are being offered at reduced prices.
What connects them is not a single style, but attention.
Attention to material.
To process.
To craftsmanship.
To the value of making something well.
We also want this edition to question a familiar assumption: that quality art must necessarily be financially distant. It does not. There is room for collecting at different scales. A small original work can matter. A handmade piece can carry as much thought as a larger one. A limited edition can be meaningful without becoming inaccessible.
For us, affordability is not about lowering standards. It is about widening the possibility of participation. That matters especially now, when the ecosystem surrounding art and design is fragile. Artists need audiences. Audiences need places where discovery feels possible. Independent initiatives need movement, visibility and trust.
Seasonal Rooms II brings those elements together under one roof. You can walk through the four rooms slowly. Notice what catches your eye. Discover someone unfamiliar. Return to a piece. Find something unexpected. Leave with nothing, or leave with something that stays with you. There is no prescribed way to experience it. Only an invitation to look closely.
At a time marked by uncertainty, we remain committed to ideas that have always shaped Kulturnest: thoughtful reuse, artistic independence, fairer access to art, and a strong sense of community. Not because these values solve the larger crisis around us. But because they help sustain the kind of cultural life we still want to have when the crisis passes.
