Chris Assoury

Chris Assoury is a passionate, creative, and highly motivated visual artist born in Beirut in 1977. She holds a B.S. in medical laboratories and later pursued her academic journey, earning both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Fine Arts from the Lebanese University in 2020. Her Master's degree project, titled Uninvited, is a Sound/Visual art installation that explores the intricate interplay between memory, environmental sounds, and visual perception.

Her artistic repertoire encompasses painting, sculpture, sound, and visual installations, all drawing inspiration from memory, cognition, and everyday life events. In 2023, she showcased her artistic prowess in the group exhibition "Encounters 2023" at Galerie Janine Rubeiz, Beirut, where her installation "Autumn's Echo" left a lasting impression.

Her contribution to the "The City and I" exhibition at Sursock Palace included the captivating sound-visual installation” We Are HEAR.”

Chris Assoury's artistic talents have garnered acclaim and recognition over the years. In 2022, she clinched the third prize in the "Wide Awake competition" with ICTJ. Her collaboration with ABAAD organization as an art consultant in 2021 resulted in the creation and execution of the thought-provoking public art installation, “Hear and Now”. Furthermore, she participated in Arleb's virtual exhibition by NABAD in 2021. Notably, in 2014, she was a fellow participant in the "Home Work Space" program by Ashkal Alwan, Beirut.

Chris has also exhibited her work in two solo exhibitions in Lebanon. She has been a contributing artist in numerous collective exhibitions from 2008 to the present, showcasing her artistry in Lebanon, Athens, and Tunisia.

Artworks
